I once saw 2 guys drag one of those $500+ outdoor kitchens stainless steel grills back into the store. I gotta tell ya, this thing was dis-gust-ing! there was cooked on grease hanging off it in 4 inch stalactites with corresponding stalagmites below them.I would have been ashamed to have anyone see anything that filthy and ill maintained even vaguely associated with me!My curiosity got the better of me so I decided that I had forgotten my card and wandered along behind them and go in the customer service line.So, it turns out the grill was 11 months old and apparently these "gourmands" couldn't get it to light up anymore. It was pretty obvious that the problem was that the igniter was underneath a three inch layer of grease. However, the person doing the customer service thing was amazingly cool, and gave them a replacement grill, same model no questions asked. No hassle, she didn't even wrinkle her nose at it. I was stunned, I would have told them to go buy a pressure washer or run it through the high pressure car wash and not be such pigs next time. You can say whatever you want about the membership thing but the customer service at costco can't be beat.I asked the rep if that was normal and she said while the grill was pretty ridiculous their full satisfaction or return/refund/exchange policy covers it. She kind of indicated that they would clean it up and use it for the employees so at least it wasn't a total waste.And ya with the % back on my purchases I get more than my membership fee back every year and the prices on a lot of their stuff is better than anything other than true wholesale.
