I never got to have the feel of it until recently. My girlfriend and I were tinkering with her 4 inch diameter telescope on my driveway out in the boonies where I live. I decided to point it at the brightest object I could find. When I focused I couldn't believe what I saw.MOTHER ***** JUPITER. IN MY DRIVEWAY.The planet that I've done all this reading about. It seemed so close that I could see it with such a relatively small amount of magnification. I could make out the Galilean moons orbiting it. There it was, a giant sphere just hanging up there for all the world to see and I had absolutely no idea what it was 5 minutes prior. The next fall (this fall), I changed my major to Astrophysics and have loved it every step of the way so far..

str1fe, you are correct, but I wouldn't say "most" under-perform. I think it was stupid to give LA a 2nd MLS team (Chivas USA) and I disagree with Kansas City having ANY sports team, let alone an MLS team. MLS got a little too happy in the early to mid 2000's by giving franchises to any city that promised a stadium. Lately they've been smarter though. Seattle was an EXCELLENT move, Philly will come online next year and they should rival the passion of Seattle. Houston has always been a great crowd-drawing franchise except when they have games at 2pm in the summertime (that will change with the new stadium). Toronto has a great fan base as well.?
Gee...a lot of the countries that have students who excel at math, science spend LESS on education than the USA. Hummmmm wonder if it is the (lack of) education they are receiving in the USA.Too little on the 3 R's, and more on political correctness. Too little on discipline, and more on teaching other BS. Perhaps if we got rid of the school boards, the teachers unions and put teachers that were more like they were 40 years ago, the violence in schools, and other factors would change. Then perhaps we could have a conversation with teenagers that didn't have the word "dude" or "you know" or "whatever" as every third or fourth word.
