I liked the part where he neck ***** the little ginger kid.
Local elections reflect the candidates and what they are capable of and not just a president's opinion. No point in arguing that Obama's influence is fading. People expect results, the current recession is something that took years in the making and will take years to mend.

Population is completely irrelevant when you're talking about the natural resources of the land.Australia's has vast expanses of iron-ore and natural gas, and China wants it..
This is almost as bad as fat kids suing McDonalds for being Fat.!

While the GOP is still in the doghouse, support for CONSERVATISM is growing rapidly.http://www.gallup.com/poll/121403/Special-Report-I ..."Despite the results of the 2008 presidential election, Americans, by a 2-to-1 margin, say their political views in recent years have become more conservative rather than more liberal, 39% to 18%, with 42% saying they have not changed. While independents and Democrats most often say their views haven't changed, more members of all three major partisan groups indicate that their views have shifted to the right rather than to the left."The Democratic party is suffering a LOSS. The decline in popularity of the GOP simply means that people are less willing to vote the straight GOP ticket, and will consider non-GOP candidates who represent more conservative positions.?
Dammit. I don't know why this disappoints me so much but it does. I want to address, in particular, anyone in Maine who voted to kill this initiative. (If you know of any, steer 'em over here.)Truly, what about my gay friends scares you people so? They sure as hell don't scare me. I just... what the hell is the real issue here, that you'd consciously vote to deny a segment of the population a straightforward right? Now I've made my preferences known on this issue many times in this space --ideally I'd love to see the state butt the hell out of the marriage business ALTOGETHER, but since we're not there yet, what the hell is wrong with this little interim solution? Let the folks who love each other marry fer cryin' out loud. What's it gonna hurt you?(And don't quote Bible passages at me; that's a cop-out and you know it. What the hell is YOUR problem with it, personally? How does it affect YOUR life so badly that you must vote this way?)I guess the disappointment comes from the fact that this time it truly was the will of the people as opposed to a piece of legislation or a court decision. And in a state I honestly thought was pretty relaxed and not-in-the-least-bit-uptight about that sort of thing. I thought the Maine attitude was something along the lines of, "Who has time to worry about some stranger's sexual preference when there's so damn much OUTDOORS to explore?"C'mon, Maine. You guys can do better than this. |
