Dammit. I don't know why this disappoints me so much but it does. I want to address, in particular, anyone in Maine who voted to kill this initiative. I just... what the hell is the real issue here, that you'd consciously vote to deny a segment of the population a straightforward right? Now I've made my preferences known on this issue many times in this space --ideally I'd love to see the state butt the hell out of the marriage business ALTOGETHER, but since we're not there yet, what the hell is wrong with this little interim solution?
