Inadvertently setting oneself on fire??
I'm not convinced that piracy drives tax revenue down -- though down it may be. I think people buy just as much as they can and get taxed for it; if they don't spend money on movies then they have more money for clothes or dining out...So, I'm not sure that pandering to the MPAA will generate greater tax revenue. Moreover, I don't think that the MPAA can possibly put this genie back in the jar: even if they manage to scare people out of downloading movies they can't hope to stop people from renting them and copying them...And, in the meantime, pursuing these crazy machinations only alienates loyal customers. Personally, I never even considered downloading or even copying a CD recoded by a living artist until RIAA started suing kids and their moms!Really, it would be better for the MPAA if they could adjust their business model to stop the bleeding and just get over the fact that the pendulum is swinging back the other way on the entertainment industry (which, I seem to recall, was, once upon a time, no way to make money). |

Many mental illnesses are genetically linked and mental illness is already, rightly so, a consideration in our justice system. As with mental illness, a genetic predisposition wouldn't excuse your actions but they certainly could be considered as mitigating circumstances in some cases. The role of the courts isn't to punish or to advocate for the victim, it's to judge the evidence and circumstances impartially. Take the classic example of the man who steals a loaf of bread to feed his starving family, he is clearly wrong to steal but given those circumstances we would all do the same. In a case like this the court would take these mitigating circumstances into consideration when sentencing the man and rather then sending him to jail for stealing he might instead be sentenced to pay back the store for the stolen bread and be given no time in jail. Similarly, the defense lawyer for a person with a genetic predisposition to violence should have a responsibility to argue for a lenient sentence that maybe included anger management training or maybe medical treatment that might allow the individual to better control their anger. The prosecuting attorney would also argue any circumstances against leniency such as prior offenses. Ultimately the court then has to judge based on all the arguments what the best course of action is and that often includes leniency in consideration of the circumstances. I'd much rather a compassionate court system than a punitive one.

Wheel-mounted motors will likely never make it out of concept. The problem is called "unsprung mass" . Named so because it describes any mass not protected by the springs of the shock absorbing system. It is very important to minimize this mass to achieve good continuous ground contact and reasonable control during all accelerations. They may seem like a great idea, but it's cheaper, and performs better, to just have have one large motor feed its power to light weight wheels.

the transition from 3 to 4 does a lot to justify why the glaciers retreated in North America and why the great lakes are freshwater.
