The FBI will use bears next time.
While interesting I doubt if these numbers mean much if you take into account both cost of living and the added qualifications for the jobs.

“I think you'd need at least 60mbit/s connection to stream at Blu-Ray quality, per video.. Some of the blu rays have bursts where the bitrate gets around 50mbit/sec, avg video is 25mbit/sec and audio is around 10-12mbit for the lossless codecs. So if you have a house and you want to watch 4 movies simultaneously (roommates, kids), a 250mbit connection or better is ideal.

Look I'm not trying to be an anti-iphone person, just read me out:It isn't about features and it's not about innovation. I can't think of a single innovative feature that iphone offers that android doesn't have now and they have tons of innovative features iphone doesn't. People are buying iphones based on marketing/popularity/physical form factor. And this article has a point on flow and performance (though few people experience that before they buy iphone so they must be taking the plunge based on the marketing/popularity.Android did before iphone:background appsvideo capturecompass (magnetometer) for directional trackingwidgets and a customizable desktoplayers on maps (live traffic, public transit, weather etc.)now has free turn by turn navigationthemes (without jailbreaking)tethering (without jailbreaking)integrated social media (part of contacts all in one view)notifications bar (without background apps, iphone couldn't use this anyway)physical keyboard and virtualnew droid has twice the resolution and brighter screenand it has all the things iphone touts like multi-touch, huge app store (though itunes has 70k more ifarts than android market... we'll get there I'm sure ;), outlook integration, media playing, etc.So still think it's about innovation? What has iphone innovated in the last couple versions?.
#1 should be Kusanagi Motoko hands down.!

Anyone who would keep a hissing cockroach as a pet is ***** up. Also dugg for baby hedgehogs and pot-belly and micro pigs. BTW, since they seem to have put the skunk pic twice instead of the opossum one, here's an opossum: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Opossum_2.jpgGenerally keeping wild animals as "pets" is a bad idea, though, whether or not its illegal.

"So what's the end game in all of this for the entertainment industry? I mean do they really think that if they cut off everyone's access to pirated material that we'll all suddenly go out and buy ***** loads of movies, music etc. "No, personally I think this is an attempt to hold off digital downloading as the primary means of content distribution for as long as possible. The costs of DVD/CD production and distribution are rather high, at least as far as a small content producer is concerned. Often high enough to prevent them from even making an effort to get their product to consumers unless they have outside investors willing to help with the startup costs and initial run. If consumers become accustomed to buying digital downloads as opposed to going to regular stores, (which often won't even sell DVD's and CD's from small independents) then that opens the door for the smaller studios and labels to compete directly with the big guys. The amount of available content will explode and the cost of all content will drop dramatically which will destroy their current business model; the hits will no longer be able to provide the same profits to cover the flops, and with so many other competitors out there, the hits will be few and far between. |
